Blurb about me
I grew up watching TVB series as a kid. I would always watch what my mom was watching. The main dialect I speak at home is Chao Zhou or Teo Chew. My parents can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, and Chao Zhou. I picked up Cantonese from watching TVB series. I'm not very Chinese literate. My parents should be happy that I could at least write my own Chinese name. Ever since TVB put subtitles in their series, I've picked up some Chinese reading skills. Who would have thought watching drama can be such a great learning experience! I still keep up with TVB series even though they aren't as good as they used to be. It has kept me from losing my Chinese speaking abilities, which sadly, my brothers are losing. Watching TVB series has kept me from getting too white washed...lol. It's a link to my Chinese heritage and I hope to keep it alive.
I don't watch as many series as I used to. One reason is I'm too busy now to keep up with everything. I'm in college now so I have a lot of studying to do. Another reason is the lack of quality series. The storylines are getting repetitive and I see the same people in series after series. If I like them, then I wouldn't mind, but out of the new actors and actresses that are currently being promoted, I only like a few. I'm not as hooked on TVB series as I used to. Lots of my favorite actors/actresses no longer film for TVB. What happened to all those epic storylines and memorable characters?
